Makeup Haul!

My favourite place to shop in Barbados has quickly become Collins in Broad Street, Bridgetown.
They stock loads of Maybelline products at very affordable prices, also they stock brands like Essie and Sally Hansen as well as loads of skincare brands - including Garnier.

Below are my recent purchases-, also, I went sometime last week, and found lipstick holders (which I was considering buying on Amazon) which held 9 lipsticks in each holder for around $7bds - naturally I bought all of them, so I ended up with 4 holders.

So, the Garnier BB Cream has been getting loads of hype in the beauty community, and it is definitely worth it- such good consistency and coverage! I even got my mother hooked on it! The only downside is that there are only 2 shades - Light/Medium (which I have) and Medium/Deep. This product was around $30 (kinda pricey)
The Maybelline Fit Me Concealer is also another holy grail product - really good for under the eyes - not too thick and blends well - I got this in 15 which is a light colour with pink undertones.
The Age Rewind Dark Spot Corrector is pretty good, but I havent tried it out alot - I wish they brought in the more popular Under Eye corrector instead!
I haven't tried The Rocket mascara - still trying to work my way through some others I have, and the Eye Studio gel liner - I've only used once, but I can definitely say - ladies DONT buy MAC Blacktrak gel eyeliner --This is wayyyyyyyyyy better! - it is a blacker black (if that makes sense), and has way better staying power.
The Maybelline Colour Tattoo's are still great - I now have 4 shades - I really like the pomegranate punk shade for my blue eyes.
The Baby Lips colour I got was in Cherry Me and I've used it every single day since I bought it! Must be a sign that I love it..
The Essie nailpolishes were the first Essie polishes I've ever bought, and they are great! I really like the formula, and they are cheaper (only $12.50) and better quality than the Revlon ones which are around $18

Hope you enjoyed this mini review!

Easy Nail Ideas!

So I've been really into doing interesting but easy nail art designs..

This one is OPI's Dulche De Leche - such a pretty pinky brown colour and then I did an accent nail gradient type design, where I first put a fine silver glitter nail colour on the top 1/3rd of the nail, and then on top of that I put Milani's Jewel FX silver glitter polish mainly on the tip of the nail..
These were my birthday nails, and they came out gorgeous! I did the same concept on my toes as well, with the silver gradient being on my big toe..

Dulche De Leche

This second one was a little bit more time consuming, but definitely worth it!
These were my Spring/Easter nails, I did them specifically for Easter weekend actually.
For the pink base I used Revlon's Top Speed Dry Polish in Cupid, and then for my first finger, for the base I used Revlon Colorstay Polish in Pale Cashmere (one of my all time favourite polishes) and for the dots I used a dotting tool and placed random dots on the nail using the same Cupid from Revlon.
For my middle finger I just used Milani Jewel FX glitter polish in Silver for the whole nail.
On my ring finger I used Cupid from Revlon and then I placed a silver nail rhinestone on the bottom centre of the nail. For my pinky and thumb, I used the same Cupid as well as a coat of a iridescent glitter top coat - mine was from Jordana.

Hope you try out these simple nail designs and have fun with them!!

Update - June 4th 2013

Well, well, well, I plead guilty to lagging with my posts again...

These past three months have been unbelievably busy, I turned 21 on March 4th and finished my last term of university on May 17th -but I'm still waiting for my results to comeback -hopefully on June 13th!
I will have an undergraduate law degree, and this September, I shall be off to law school in Trinidad and Tobago for 2 years--

Here's to a whole new journey!!

I've decided to take a break this summer and not get a summer job, so I can relax before the hectic life of law school begins *cough* watch True Blood all day. This means I will have way more time to write..

Let the makeup obsessed writing begin!!

NYX Series - Butt Naked Palette - Swatches and Review

Hi Guys!

I thought I'd start off with a NYX series of posts, first one being on their Butt "Naked" Eyes Palette!

Im absolutely obsessed with neutral eyeshadows, and I actually bought this palette before I got my UD Naked palette.
I love this one because:
  •  it has more matte shades that the UD Naked
  • it comes with 15 shades of eyeshadow, 4 blush colours and 2 highlighter shades all in one
  • it is way more affordable than the UD Naked ( I bought mine on cherryculture.com on sale for like $20 us I believe)

Most of the shades in this palette are really amazing quality, but there are a few duds which are either very chalky or have no pigmentation at all. Of course you could apply these shades wet (foiling) for optimal colour payoff.

My favourite shades from this palette are -
1) The pink colour in the second column and second row
2) The purple-brown next to it ( somewhat similar to Mac's Satin Taupe)
3) The cool-toned brown in the bottom left hand corner
4) The chocolate brown in the bottom row, second from the right
5) The shimmery dark purple on the bottom right hand corner

All of these shades are the most pigmented from the lot and are the easiest to blend. They are my personal picks from the palette.

The 4 blush colours are quite impressive as well, but they are a bit chalky.
The first shimmery coral colour to the left of the palette reminds me of Nars Orgasm or Super Orgasm.

The bronzer colour is matte (which is always a good thing in my opinion), but it is quite orange toned - so ladies use a light hand when using this!
The two highlighters - one is a more white/gold shade, and the other is a more pinky rose gold colour - these are also quite chalky as well!

SWATCHES: :

Row 1 - Left  - Right

Row 1 - Left - Right

Row 2 - Left to Right

Row 3 - Left - Right

L-R - Bronzer, 2 highlighters

Blush L-R

Packaging - 4/5
Product - 3.5/5
This palette is a good alternative to the more expensive neutral eyeshadow palettes because it has great diversity.
However, with all cheaper alternatives they are not as amazing as the quality you would get with a more high-end product.

All in all, I still think this product is worth the money and worth the buy!

Hope you found this helpful!

Nail Of The Day - 01/01/13

Hey Everyone,

I just thought I'd do a quick post of my nails, on the first day of 2013!

This nail polish is by Revlon and it's #430 " Whimsical "
It's a mint green with loads of shimmers in it - pink & blue
I used 3 coats to build it up, but I think it would also look great layered over another colour!

Of course this post wouldn't be complete without an instagram picture!
